Advice for Road Runners: The adidas Men's Solarcontrol 2 in the Core Black/Grey/Lucid Lemon colourway are stability running shoes. We position them in our Connected Experience category as they deliver a protective, yet responsive ride.

Underfoot Feel

adidas' famous BOOST cushioning feels soft and protective at landing. However, a top-loaded EVA control platform sits above the BOOST cushioning for two reasons. Firstly, it enhances energy return and improves the responsiveness of the midsole.

Secondly, the foam creates more underfoot stability. It also extends down the medial side of the midsole to provide more arch support and help reduce greater ranges of pronation.

A stiffer structure, named LEP, runs through the midsole of the adidas Solarcontrol 2 running shoes. This delivers even more energy return and stability. If you're wondering, LEP means Linear Energy Push.

Upper Fit

The adidas Solarcontrol 2 running shoes features a zoned engineered mesh upper. As a result, they should feel supportive and secure in key areas. The upper also includes at least 50% recycled content.

Ideal Run Type

We suggest using the adidas Men's Solarcontrol 2 running shoes for slower to steady paced miles. While the cushioning offers great protection, it also offers lots of energy return. This means it's likely to perform more effectively over a wider range of efforts in comparison to running shoes which are very soft.

If you're searching for stability running shoes that adapt to different types of runs, these should be a great option.

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
